Turner. Published in 1886 by the Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. No. II Arctic Series of Publications Issued in Connection with the Signal Service, U.S. Army - With 26 Plates. Overall book is in fair / fair- condition. Wear especially to the boards with white substance (maybe paint) around top of boards. Browning / foxing to pages. Loosening of pages, which are separating from the binding in places. There are also some torn pages and other dings here and there. Color plates are generally clean and in good shape. There are 15 black/white plates and 11 great colored plates. Book is missing most of the tissue paper that was originally included before the colored lithographs. Without the tissue paper, some of the drawings have transposed or caused foxing onto the adjacent pages. (See photo). Pencil marks/notes on the front and back end papers by a previous bookseller.
