Description: A fabulous c1893 12 by 15 inch glass framed 7 by 9 inch paper or board sign advertising Kellogg's Lists, a family of newspapers from Chicago, etc. Playing on the 1893 Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, the aesthetic style advertising scene of Columbus returning from America presenting his findings to Queen Isabella, his ship in the background. The scene is surrounded by gilt and white griffins, a caduceus, shells and dolphins, all in high Victorian detailed splendor. Reverse bears two rings for hanging in a shop window and paper label for Bigelow and Jordan of Boston. There is a roughly 2 inch missing chip from the base and the matting bears signifificant foxing. However, the image looks good. Reframed, this would be a fabulous Columbian Expo advertising Sign! Buyer to pay $17.00 insured priority mail within the US. Foreign rates based on 1+ pounds in 18 by 15 by 4 inch box.
