Description: For sale is a stunning Jaeger-LeCoultre vintage automatic watch, reference E393 with a caliber K881 from the early to mid 1960s. A pure dress watch with gold colored applied markers, no minute track, plain baton hands, all encased in a beautiful slim 18k yellow gold case. Jaeger-LeCoultre has been and still is one of the finest manufactures of wristwatches, with plenty of legendary models in its portfolio and a vast array of in-house movements. This particular example is no different, and compared to very similar models with the same movement like the Geomatic, it's less the half the price. The watch was measures 17.9 grams including the crystal and the thin metal ring on the back case. I believe it's 16 grams of solid 18k yellow gold. Comes with a barely worn, handmade butero tan leather strap sized at 130/80mm. It should fit wrist of 20+ cm circumference. Reference: E393Movement: Cal. These are easily visible under high magnification, but barely noticeable to the naked eye. Applied markers are clean. Hour and minute hands are clean, while the seconds hand has small spots of darker yellowing. It wears beautifully in hand and retains all the original sunburst finish. Case is in very decent shape considering the age and relative softness of gold. It has light scratches from use, but nothing major that sticks out. The most noticeable scratch is one on the side of the 4 o'clock mark, measuring around 2.2mm and easily visible on the fifth and sixth photos. Case profile is good and edges are relatively sharp for a gold case, so I think at most it has been lightly polished. The case back has minor scratches and I think the flat part has been polished at certain time. The "A" under the case serial number is only lightly visible. Crown is a generic replacement and not original. Movement looks incredible for its age and it performs even better. Automatic winding works great, time setting is smooth, and the date sets automatically every 24 hours. Looking at the condition and performance, I suspect it has been serviced in recent years, but can't give any guarantee. Timegrapher results show that it's gaining 4 to 15 seconds per day based on the position, with a strong amplitude in the 240 range. You should wear it with care and prevent exposure in very humid environments. Washing your hands while wearing the watch or exposure to light rain are fine as long as you're careful and aware that it's a vintage watch.
