Description: 1883 miniature portrait of a young child named “Teddy.” Reverse has hair art backing and frame engraved with obit reading E.C. (perhaps Edward was his first name and his nickname was Teddy) 25th December 1883. Beautifully painted showing the sweetest young boy wearing a white hat trimmed in blue and a ruffled top also in blue trim. Accompanied by a blue bow at the neck and a floral bouquet. Light green eyes and wispy brown curls. Back is off white silk with a curled lock of hair and the name Teddy also spelled out in hair. Absolutely magnificent specimen and exceedingly rare detail work. Fabulous condition and color, though left unsigned by the most talented artist.
