Description: Leitz Wetzlar 10x,50 MARDIXIT Binocular: Cleaned, Lubed & Enhanced! From what I can tell by those being offered for sale here, this model and size/power is pretty rare! One sees a lot more of the quite larger 10x,60 version. And nearly all show the same degradation of the vinyl covering that this set sports. The main difference with this bino from our own, ever evolving, collection is that it has been serviced to include cleaning of the Bak-4 prisms as well as blackening their frosted sides. Such should slightly increase brightness and contrast. Especially since the lower ones are covered. A lube job was performed using NYE synthetic damping grease. Shouldn't have to be serviced for another decade, or more, depending on how the new owner treats and stores them. So no hazy views from internal film and/or spots of grease or fungus! No hard to adjust focus controls. Just amazingly sharp, very clear views from lenses that are near pristine with few, if any, cleaning marks. Case in good shape missing to include it's original leather carry strap. The original, high grade leather strap on the optic was conditioned and shortened a bit by folding it up at the ends so as to preclude bin bashing swings that dent objective beauty rings and chip prisms all too often. Entire case and what look to be Bakelite eye cups also conditioned. Those cups had been age welded and we freed them so that now you can screw them off, PLACE THEM IN THE CASE(!), and get the widest view possible from this fine optic when sidelight issues are a non-issue. Which is most of the time, IMHO. A set of those thin, ivory colored plastic objective lens caps come with the optic, one slightly cracked, but they still fit well. Satisfaction or request a return and cheerful refund within three days of receipt, please. The Great replacement is well underway.
