Description: I appreciate your interest in this vintage Nordmende Globetraveler, a classic world renown, high end German export radio from the late 1960s. I will be offering radios from my personal collection of reconditioned Globetraveler ll, lll, and similar models, starting with the one's that are in the best physical and mechanical condition with all bands and functions working correctly. NOTE: The only difference between models ll and lll is that starting with model lll, the sound was improved by replacing the single 5x7 inch speaker with a 5x7 inch coaxial speaker. No worries, I install new coaxial speakers in all my radios. Here's another one of my great reconditioned Globetravelers. Buy while you can. There's not many more of these radios in existence that are in good working condition. ITEM DETAILS: RADIO # 6 - Nordmende Globetraveler ll - SN 305401 - Model A101E NOTE: This radio also works excellent on 5 D-Cell batteries (not included). Front face plate labeling may be European style on some early models. INCLUDED FREE: My exclusive and valuable reference sheet on main radio parts, controls, and functions. New AC power cord. New quality 4x6 inch coaxial speaker. Also included is a free 1960s Globetraveler Newspaper Ad replication. This radio has been expertly disassembled to expose the main chassis and all switches, contacts, and mechanical parts were thoroughly spray cleaned and completely saturated with a professional grade contact cleaner, deoxidizer, and lubricant and then allowed to dry for 24 hours. A thorough visual inspection was performed to find and repair any minor internal defects such as burned out light bulbs, detached wires, loose parts, etc. The original speaker was replaced with a brand new quality 4x6 inch coaxial speaker. All the settings and functions of this radio have been tested many times over a period of a few weeks after the radio was re-assembled and all functions are working properly. NOTE: As far as I know, no broadcasts will be received on the Medium Wave and the Long Wave Bands as they were phased out long ago and are no longer active in the US. I consider this radio to be in "very good over-all condition", especially considering it's over a half of century old (and older than more than half of the people in the US). It's an antique collectable radio and not a museum display piece. It's a survivor and has the normal little dings, scratches and imperfections caused by decades of handling and existence. The important thing is that it looks fantastic, it's still working, and will make a great display piece to show off. I'm not going through the trouble of pointing out every little bad spot. I included several good quality photos for you to examine. Do not buy this radio if you are one of those "nitpicking perfectionists and complainers". I am not desperate to sell and I don't need the aggravation or negative feedback which I've never had in over 20 years. I'm sure you will understand that due to the age of this radio, I can't offer any kind of warranty or accept returns. Though this radio is in great working condition and should last a long time if treated gently, there are lots of aging internal plastic and metal mechanical parts that can fail. The most common defect among these radios is a breakdown of the short wave spread bands function that causes the SW tuner and the red pointer to become disabled. I have bragging rights for this.....In 2023, I came up with the first ever successful modification to repair and simplify the Short Wave Spread Bands function design (To watch my video Visit YouTube and enter "Nordmende Globetraveler lll Modification" in the search box. Look for my name, Lou Guadagno). NOTE: In case of a rare and totally unexpected major malfunction of the radio occurring within a short time after delivery, I will gladly work with the buyer to come up with a reasonable solution. I package the radios very carefully to assure they do not get damaged in transit and I also get insurance just in case. TIP: The worse thing to do with these old radios is to let them sit for long periods of time without any use. It's like putting your car in the garage for months at a time and never starting the engine. Parts need to move and flex to stay in shape just like with our bodies. You need to work all the radio knobs, buttons, switches and dials fairly regularly to keep the electrical contacts and mechanical parts from oxidizing and getting gummed up. It's all about the friction from working all the controls that keeps the parts clean and in good working condition. (Read On) IMPORTANT: On the other hand, if you are rough at handling things, you can ruin this radio. For example, if you apply unnecessary torque at the end of the left and right turning limits of the tuner dials and other knobs, you can break a dial string or cause other damage. I believe that my asking price for this radio is very reasonable considering its rare condition and the hours of tedious work I spent on the reconditioning.
