Description: This box was made by Alexander Lateshev who went to art school and currently lives 50 kilometers north of Moscow in town of Sergie Posad. A master of wood burning techniques, Sasha produces delicate pieces showing the festive side of life of prerevolutionary Russia. His works look for a minuscule setting where dogs bark, balloons fly, locals shopping for gifts or cloths, and sleigh rides in the snow. The wood burning gives a three dimensional feeling to his work. Sasha's boxes are made of Linden wood and painted with watercolor/gouache. The finish is matte wax to preserve but not distract. The box is 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 x 2 1/4" which opens to reveal a cloth padded bottom. A masterpiece!!! Feedback from customer who purchaced similar work of this artist:"On seeing one of these, you think, “Oh this is printed on paper and glued to a wooden box,” but careful examination shows it is exactly what it is supposed to be … a highly detailed pyrograph that is handpainted and pyrographically signed on the bottom. Ecquisite"
