Description: My mother painted this picture in 1952.She had high quality prints made in Vienna, Austria. The actual print dimensions are 27 3/8" wide x 21 1/2" high (31 3/8 x 26 1/4 overall).Details of the vision that inspired her to paint the picture are below: "Second Coming of Christ"Sometimes people like to know what motivates an artist to paint a certain picture. I shall set forth exactly how this one came about. I was awakened from a deep sleep by a vision of the Heavens. As I watched Christ roll back the clouds, just before he spoke, His inexpressibly beautiful figure with a background of brilliant hues of red and a golden shining light embracing andall about Him was truly magnificent. Then I saw the ethereal form of God in the background of our Lord. God’s hands were especially notable and the most dominant feature. He had just placed His son, Jesus Christ on earth. His beautiful hands were so compassionate and compelling that I was struck with awe. I awakened as Christ spoke clearly and unmistakably these words to me: “The world has become so indifferent and careless of their need of me; not all, but so many, and this troubles me greatly. I am coming again as my Father promised. Would you, in your own way, do something to help the unbelievers and those forgetful of my Father’s and my own eternal love, to make this clear and understanding to them?” As I arose from my bed I answered aloud, “Yes, Lord, I will try to set down on canvas what You revealed to me of Your second coming”. The glory and power ofit all was hard to capture on canvas, for it was almost too wondrously beautiful for words or paint. Jesus Christ is there, having just touched His feet to earth from the hands of Almighty God; below him is the River of Life, reflecting the cross he was crucified on for our sins. From the river’s source the water flows out, never ending. The rainbow of colors for the River of Life signify hope everlasting as God promised to all who believe. The golden crosses in the greenery are the dedicated and true believers awaiting His coming. Also, among the crosses are the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven which all God’s children know and understand. The designs on this canvas have symbolic importance. The swirling green of the grass, in curlicues, designates eternity and abundant life. The six, large golden circles below represent the six days in which God made Heaven and earth and all therein; the larger lavender circle near the feet of Christ represents the Sabbath Day, when all labors shall cease and we worship God and thank Him for the love He gave us when He sent his son to be crucified, and His promise of eternal life if we believe in all the teachings of which he spoke. The tiny golden dots are the Virgin Mary’s tears. Over all are the glorious hues of red which signify the day of resurrection as God promised –Christ’s Second Coming!
