The first brick church on the territory of the monastery was St. Michael's Church, built in the last quarter of the XI century. At the beginning of the XII century. the monastery became one of the centers of chronicles. The possessions of the monastery included Zvirynets, Lybid, Navodnytsia, Osokorkiv and other lands with transportation on the Dnieper and its tributary Lybedi. The monastery took an active part in the political life of Kievan Rus. It was here, near St. Michael's Church, that the army traditionally gathered for the army.
