Description: A nice size mid-century silver cased powder box. The silver lid and base are both lined with opaque plastic. The base also has a layer of papier mache to the underside. The lid screws onto the base. The lid has a guilloche cross hatching pattern to it and a vacant roundel. Hallmarks to the base for Joseph Gloster Ltd, Birmingham, 1950. The silver section of the lid has a silver lion passant stamped to the edge.Lid width is approx 7.5cm. Base diameter is approx 6.7cm. Height with the lid fitted is approx 2.5cm. Condition: No dents to the lid or base, but there is some expected oxidisation. The hallmarks are all quite legible with a little rubbing here and there. The lid screws onto the base perfectly fine. No damage to the plastic liners and no damage to the papier mache bottom. Photographs are of the actual item for sale.
