Description: Siloam Springs is a city in Benton County, Arkansas with a population of 17,287 in 2020. The community was founded in 1882 and was characterized by the purported healing powers of the spring water feeding Sager Creek and trading with nearby Native American tribes. The city shares a border on the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line with the city of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma, which is within the “Cherokee Nation” territory. The medicinal springs of the Arkansas Ozarks were big business and Siloam Springs began touting its waters and building hotels in the early 1880s. What would eventually become the “Kansas City Southern Railroad” arrived in 1891 and Siloam Springs became touted as the third most popular resort in Arkansas after Eureka Springs and, further south, Hot Springs. Twin Springs Park was one and once called the “Isle of Patmos”, named after the Greek Island, where the apostle john received a vision. The card was published by “C.E. Wheelock, Peroria IL” and dated by the sender, 1909. It is in excellent condition with a clean clear imagen of the “Bridge and Isle of Patmos”. The reverse has a message but is not posted and is clean. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.
