They didnt get wide distribution in the United States, only Kmart and not all Kmarts. You can read about them on Mel Birnkrant webste. Hungary has never been removed from box but box has slight shelf ware.The have been stored away for years so batteries have died, I would assume it will still work with new batteries because it worked before. I do not want to open box to put in new batteries since it is highly collectible and am selling it as new in box. They talk, respond & light up, if you have more than one , they interact with each other. Hungary's tongue lights up. I am selling as collectible, if you open box and remove doll, it will not be returnable.
