Colonel Carlson procured many for the 2nd Raider Battalion, and the iconic blade saw action in the jungles of the South Pacific in WW2. While retaining many of the lines from the historic Raider Bowie, designer Reese Smith aimed to improve the ergonomics and performance to create a well-balanced tool, still paying homage to its roots. He added the wide fuller to match the aesthetics of the double fuller of the original V44, giving it the look of a large Marine fighting knife. This knife is meant to excel at many things while being ergonomic and featuring aggressive styling.
